Three Genius Childcare workers take legal action against the company over allegations it intentionally paid wages late and failed to pay them thousands of dollars in superannuation.
Three Genius Childcare workers have taken legal action against the company over allegations it intentionally paid wages late and failed to pay them thousands of dollars in superannuation.
The case also seeks compensation for late payment of wages and seeks fines for six serious contraventions of the Fair Work Act of up to $18 million for the Genius group. "It affected the children, new faces all the time, losing connections with the people they knew," Felicity said. "Clearly a for-profit company that is failing to meet the most basic legal requirements towards early educators is incapable of offering the environments that families and children deserve in a quality early childhood education and care setting," Ms Schofield said.
And it alleges Genius paid only $585.48 in super to the third worker, Amy Jane Kavenagh, who worked at a centre in the Perth suburb Victoria Park earlier this year, when she should have received $2,522.68.The union claims Genius agreed to pay them every fortnight on Fridays but delayed making the payments until the weekend or the following Monday.
