One in six support workers say they suffer violence on a daily basis in our country’s classrooms, while one in three are attacked every week - with staff being punched, kicked and spat on.

Staff exposed the daily onslaught of abuse after the Daily Record’s Our Kids... Our Future campaign highlighted a series of sickening attacks involving children.

“That is bad enough but the absolute failure of management to protect staff, reassure them this crisis is being taken seriously and deliver effective training and reporting procedures is equally alarming. It suggests two thirds of incidents are never recorded while three out of four say they receive no feedback if they do report an incident.

It will bring teachers, union chiefs, education experts and politicians together to thrash out a plan to tackle the issue. Her mum Angela, 44, said: “It is unfair on teachers and school staff that they are having to pull children apart while also trying to do their jobs.
