Adelaide Crows coach Matthew Nicks says his club will trust in “the process” after appearing to lose their match with Sydney after a possible umpire error.
The AFL could be facing its “worst nightmare”, after a possible error by a goal umpire was not reviewed in the final minutes of the Sydney and Adelaide game, a match which ended Adelaide’s finals hopes and could influence the final positions in the top eight.
Replays after the game appeared to show that the ball did not hit the post or the padding of the goal post, which commentators thought was possible at the time of the decision. “My understanding is that we [umpires] review those moments, especially at the end of games,” Nicks said.“We just put our trust in the process now. As a footy club, as a coach – that’s all we can do.”
The Western Bulldogs , who play bottom side West Coast Eagles on Sunday, will also end the round on 48 points if they beat the Eagles as expected.
