'Would've tried hitting him with my car' | 06:08It’s one of the UFC’s most heated rivalries, but trans Tasman UFC superstars Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya have broken bread — with ‘Bobby Knuckles’ speaking for the first time about the pair’s unlikely new friendship.The middleweight stars have fought twice, with Adesanya snatching Whittaker’s title in 2019 and winning a rematch by unanimous decision two years later.
“It’s a funny world honestly. If you were to ask me a few years ago if I had have seen this coming, the answer would have been ‘not in a hundred years’ right,” Whittaker said. “We realised City Kickboxing is only a two-and-a-half hour flight away, and they’ve got the bodies, it’s New Zealand, the place of my birth.
Whittaker went on to explain his hatred came from his fighter mentality, refusing to allow himself to have any positive feelings towards middleweight rivals.
