With Kyle Chalmers sitting out of the event in Adelaide, 23-year-old William Yang seizes his chance to win the men's 100m freestyle crown at the national championships.
Yang beat Zac Incerti and Flynn Southam home to win the national titleTokyo bronze medallist Brendon Smith took out the men's 400m individual medley
"It's a little weird when you don't have the big fella pacing up and down and talking a bit of smack to you," Incerti said. Asked to describe his family expectations, Yang said :"I can't really describe it, I can just feel it.William Yang is the new men's 100m freestyle champion.Incerti, who has spoken openly about his mental health struggles in the past, said sport was going in the right direction in terms of talking about depression and anxiety."I do my best to try to talk about it openly and honestly and I know a lot of people go through the same stuff.
"I've learnt so much from those guys, seeing how they go about their business in the marshalling room," he said.
