Saltaire, a model village in Yorkshire, was once a place where alcohol was completely banned. Now, it comes alive at night. Saltaire is located in Shipley, near Bradford, and is nestled between the River Aire, the railway, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
The village also had a school for the workers' children, almshouses, allotments, a park, and a boathouse. Amazingly, all these features are still in their original state today. Nowadays, the town is a popular place for tourists to visit but it's still a working town. The lovely stone houses, which were once lived in by factory workers, are now home to some of Bradford's richest young people.
The old houses in the village are special and protected, especially the big church that's been there since 1972, called Saltaire United Reformed Church. In July 2014, the people who make plans for buildings said some new front doors in the village didn't look right because they're too new and don't match the old buildings.
He shared: "I left Saltaire in 1997 and came back in 2012 and in that time frame the whole demographic profile had changed. It changed from elderly people, families and children to professionals - a lot of solicitors, accountants and that type, because of the transport links, it's easy for people to live here and get the train into Leeds and Manchester now.
"There was just no nightlife in Saltaire, come 5.30pm this parade was deserted but now it comes alive at that time and it's really quite quiet in the day so that's my only concern really".
