Water boss declines bonus following criticism

In February 2023, Environment Agency data revealed three of the worst rivers for raw sewage discharge in England and Wales were in Yorkshire. According to the firm's annual reports, the company paid out £878,000 in bonuses to directors last year. Ms Shaw continued: "We are tunnelling a huge new sewer for Ilkley, and we've started an additional £180m programme of work for our biggest environmental project since privatisation."The firm has previously said its plan to reduce river discharges would focus on the River Aire, Calder and Ouse.on more than 10,000 occasions.
