This conversion isn't exactly factory, but it is factory-approved.

was brought back into the Dodge lineup after a decades-long hiatus way back in 2008, fans were excitedly chattering about how good the muscle car would look as a convertible. Since then, body shops and other third parties have offered droptop conversion services for the Dodge Challenger. That's great, but it's also quite the commitment: First, you need to acquire a Challenger; next, you put in a ton of legwork to find a converter, go over reviews, and vet vendors.

Dodge will be working with third party coachbuilder Drop Top Customs, which with over 40 years of experience doing conversions is the oldest convertible coach builder in the U.S. Participating dealers will use an"integrated transportation ordering process." In other words, if you order a brand-new Dodge Challenger from the dealer, and after the car is built at the Brampton Assembly Plant, it will be shipped directly to Drop Top Customs for decapitation.

An expedited transportation process is offered for anyone ordering a Dodge Challenger R/T, R/T Scat Pack, or Challenger SRT. Before you ask, there is a warranty for the conversion but you will need to check out theSeems easy right? Walk into a dealer, order a Challenger, check a box to get the drop top conversion, and wait. Well, that convenience doesn't come cheap.

While the price is high, from what we can see in the one official photo available, the conversion looks to have factory-level fit and finish. While it would have been great if Dodge offered the Challenger as a convertible from the jump, this looks like an excellent option for those who have the cash. After all, the Challenger and its four-door Charger sibling aren't long for this world, and will be replaced by 2024 with electrified options.
