American Express acquired Resy—the popular restaurant reservations platform—earlier this year. And starting today, select Platinum and Centurion cardholders will be able to book their favorite tables via the AMEX app.

announced that Platinum and Centurion card members will have premium access to more than 10,000 restaurants via a new booking tool within the AMEX app on their phones—streamlining the process of securing tables by using only one mobile application. The reason for this? Dining is one of the top spending categories among members and is consistently the top request made through the company’s Platinum Concierge.

Here, Hannah Kelly, VP of premium content and experiences at American Express, tells us everything we need to know about this new endeavor. Our card members love to dine out and we’re constantly looking for new ways to connect them with restaurants they love, whether in their local city or across the globe. The number one request we receive through our concierge is for restaurant reservations—and dining is a top category that our card members spend in.

Why did AMEX ultimately decide to acquire Resy a while back? Was integrating Resy as the booking tool top of mind back then? Dining is a top interest for many of our card members and merchant partners, and an area that we have offered incredible value and benefits in for many years. The acquisition of Resy enables us to further deliver unique dining access, experiences, and services—and develop new ways to further connect our card members with top restaurants.

Will AMEX members get preferential treatment? If so, what are the different perks, say, of Platinum versus Centurion?
