Cat and Doug, Brendon and Scott, and Polly and Stef arrive with problems ranging from unresolved grief to addiction to parenting differences. But through a process that’s thoughtful and sensitive yet also probing, deeper issues are identified: feelings of inadequacy and failure; repression of emotions; the detrimental impact of gender stereotypes; questions of power, control and submission., it features sessions between a therapist and patients, and there’s a deceptive simplicity at work.
