Cost of living and the AFL stadium project are both front of mind for many Tasmanian voters ahead of the state election on Saturday.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Labor leader Rebecca White go head-to-head in Sky News-Mercury People's Forum days out from Tasmanian state election

Outlining their vision for the state, both leaders faced a series of questions from a group of undecided voters to better understand what their main priorities were in the lead up to this election. Premier Rockliff has pledged to cap the state's contribution to Hobart's $750 million stadium at $375 million, saying"not a red cent more".

"I've been clear, it's not our priority to put taxpayer funds into a project like that when we've got people who can't access health care." The Premier was asked whether revenue from the stadium would be invested back into Tasmania, to which he replied:"4000 jobs will be created in that construction…generating an economic wealth where we can have private business come in around the stadium, bringing with it hotel rooms, bars club, entertainment."Ms White interrupted, saying:"Has anyone read the business case? I don't think the Premier has either.

Labor leader Rebecca White said cost of living was the"number one issue" in the state and also focused on funding childcare, through an investment of $75 million in the sector.
