The families of hostages gathered four floors down in an underground car park in Tel Aviv on Friday
TEL AVIV – At 7.45am on Saturday morning, Orit Meir received a call from her 21-year-old son Almog Meir Jan. “I’m at the, they’re shooting at us, I’m hiding,” he said. “I love you. I’ll update you every half an hour”.southern IsraelIt was a video of Almog, handcuffed and distressed, lying on the floor of a dark room, surrounded by three other hostages.
“From the moment we received the video of Almog, everything changed,” says Aviram. He got in the car and drove to Orit’s house. They went into action mode. The house morphed into an operation centre. Aviram’s wife and four daughters have stopped working. So has Almog’s sister, Geut.In the past six days, they’ve barely slept. Calls with officials, calls with journalists, calls with Almog’s friends. They’ve set up an Instagram page – Save Almog – and posted pictures of his face wherever they can.
