The Scottish act returned to Manchester for the third time in 12 months for the first headline show at the BBC's 6 Music Festival
Cavorting across the packed stage at O2 Victoria Warehouse, Kayus Bankole is a blur. Behind him, a procession of silhouettes flash across a canvas backdrop.
Within minutes, they are joined by Young Fathers, who bound out to a thrashing drum beat and launch straight into Shoot Me Down. The fast pace and anarchic brashness continue with In My View - where Alloysious Massaquoi’s more tender vocals are allowed to come to the fore - then Drum and Rice, a pair of dance-friendly favourites from Heavy Heavy.
The Mercury Prize-winning act have never been one to shy away from expressing their political views and it's no different tonight.
