The man and his 16-year-old son made it to shore with the help of locals and surf lifesavers, but his 20-year-old son could not be found. “The 16-year-old was released, but the father had to remain in given the amount of water he’d ingested,” Pregnall said. Police divers and surf lifesavers on jet-skis and boats are searching the water, while the Police Air Wing and State Emergency Service volunteers are scouring the coastline.Police initially reported that a teenage boy was missing, but later clarified that the 20-year-old son had not made it back to shore.
