The Northern Territory government has confirmed it's pulling funding from three youth hubs in Alice Springs town camps.

Three youth hubs are being closed in Alice Springs town camps, amid claims they are not "hitting the mark".The government says funding for the hubs will be redirected to other youth services in Alice Springs.

NT Chief Minister Eva Lawler confirmed today that Tangentyere's youth hubs would be cut after a Territory Families evaluation found the program wasn't delivering."It wasn't making a difference to what we needed to see in Alice Springs, which is having kids not on the street, not causing trouble." "Having additional YORETs on the street until 3am, 4am … that has been making a difference," she said.Northern Territory Australian of the Year Blair McFarland, who was acknowledged for his work supporting young people and children across Central Australia, said it was a poor decision.

Among the causes he said needed urgent support were housing and food security, especially in town camps.
