Mr Eisenberg was trying to deploy a parachute when he crashed his modified Porsche 911 Turbo at 244mph during a speed record attempt at Elvington Airfield near York in October 2020.

Mr Champkin told the inquest:"The car became airborne very quickly, it travelled 513 metres before coming to a rest."The minute it is in the air, there's no friction, apart from air friction, to restrain its speed in any way."

He needed to take his left hand off the steering wheel of the modified vehicle - which was legal to drive on the road - to use a lever to deploy the parachute. He carried out 10 runs of the airfield that day, with analysis of the vehicle finding no faults in the brakes, tyres or aerodynamics.
