President Volodymyr Zelensky says he hopes Boris Johnson will stay in frontline politics after stepping down as Britain's Prime Minister, adding he wants to form the same 'close relationship' with the new leader.
Zelensky, who sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan alongside his wife Olena Zelenska, said he wholeheartedly believed Mr Johnson would always"be with Ukraine" - no matter what role he takes on next.
"'I want him to be somewhere in politics in a position to be someone. I don't want him to disappear but the decision is in the hands of the British people. In his speech announcing he was stepping down as leader of the Conservative Party, Mr Johnson addressed the people of Ukraine and pledged his country would"continue to back your fight for freedom for as long as it takes".
