, is working on something new. No, it’s not another V8-engined monster based on its original ST1, but rather a completely new offering that takes the form of a hybrid V12 supercar. And people say twelve-cylinder engines are dying.
Called the Aurora, the new supercar will feature a ‘bespoke’ 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 mated to a hybrid system and Zenvo’s own gearbox. No mention of power and torque numbers just yet, but the company says it’ll be limited to 249mph. That’s for the more road-focused Aurora Tur anyway, while the ‘aggressive aero’ design of the track-honed Aurora Agil will likely sacrifice top speed in favour of more downforce.
The basis for the Aurora is a ‘modular’ carbon fibre monocoque with carbon sub frames. The aim is not only to build the Aurora on that architecture, but also a string of new models that are set to launch over the next ten years. That’s a bold statement for a company that’s only had one core production car since its inception in 2007.
Company chairman Jens Sverdrup said: “It is a remarkable honour to direct our growing team, as we undertake the most exciting phase in the history of the company. This car has come from the passion that runs deep in the Zenvo family and very much aligns with our ethos of ‘smiles per mile’. 2023 is going to be a truly exciting year.” It’s already off to a good start, with 30% of the 100-strong production run already spoken for.
