It would be understandable for a driver to lose confidence after enduring one of the most shocking crashes in F1, but that isn’t the case for Zhou Guanyu.
Such was the prior lack of Chinese influence in motorsport that Zhou didn’t even get to raise his country’s flag the first time he stood on the podium at the beginning of his career in go-karts.
"By the following race they brought the Chinese flag and I was able to bring that to the junior single-seaters all the way up to F1. I think it’s very inspiring for young people. “It’s inspired me a lot during my life because dreams are difficult to reach and to be arriving at the dream and doing reasonably successfully is something I dreamed of.”
“The good thing is the Chinese Grand Prix has been signed for a few years, so if everything goes right, it’s going to be put in the calendar.
