The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra 'triple primary' camera explained — breaking away from the standards!

This story is sponsored by ZTE. PhoneArena's opinions in this article have not been affected in any way!ZTE’s Axon series have been known for bringing great value and various innovations to their customers. Last year’s Axon 30 really impressed us with a well-hidden under-screen selfie camera, and the Axon 30 Ultra had a classy, thin design and fantastic performance, which we took note of.

The wide-angle and the telephoto cameras are both assisted by an optical stabilization module, while the ultra-wide snapper will take smooth videos thanks to advanced electronic stabilization. That’s why all of them are called a “primary camera” — essentially, you should not expect a drop in quality from any of them.Typically, the main wide-angle lens of smartphones has a focal length of about 26 mm . This was great in the past, when ultra-wide secondary cameras were not a thing, as 26 mm is kind of capable of allowing you to capture a lot of things into the frame, without crossing the border of being “too wide”.

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has a 35 mm wide camera. This is considered by photographers to be the most versatile focal length, as its imaging captures objects, figures, and landscapes in a way that appears more natural to our eyes, yet it still gives us some width to work with while setting up a shot.Across the 16 mm ultra-wide, 35 mm wide-angle, and 91 mm telephoto cameras, we have a total of 5.7x zoom range.
