Mark Zuckerberg argues that making tech firms smaller would be counterproductive for preventing election interference, and he’s right. That could be Facebook’s best defense, writes jennifersaba.
Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged in July that if Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren wins office she will try and break up the social media company, according to an internal transcript published by the Verge on Oct. 1.
“I would bet that we will win the legal challenge,” Zuckerberg said in internal company meetings. “And does that suck for us? Yeah, I mean I don’t want to have a major lawsuit against our own government.” Zuckerberg said that breaking up technology companies would also hamper efforts to deter election interference.
