The future King's decision not to invite Harry and Meghan to his wedding, after previously inviting them to his first marriage, has sparked speculation that a rift may have developed between the two cousins, the father of whom is Princess Anne.
'Act of war': Prince Harry and Meghan Markle humiliated by cousin's 'brutal' move ahead of UK visit The latest blow against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is likely to leave Prince Harry feeling"devastated", according to a royal expert.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not been invited to Peter Phillips' royal wedding in Gloucestershire next month. A royal expert has predicted that the Duke of Sussex will be feeling"devastated" after his cousin, who is the son of Princess Anne, snubbed him from his June nuptials - despite Phillips inviting him to his first marriage and attending Harry's wedding in 2018.
"Unfortunately, for weddings, the guest list writes itself most of the time," Mark Dolan said on the Daily Expresso podcast. Picture: Chris Jackson/Getty Images Host JJ Anisiobi chimed in:"So the fact that Harry went to Peter Phillips' first wedding, Peter went to Harry and Meghan's wedding, and now Peter has not invited Harry.
" Dolan responded, dubbing the move"brutal" despite his doubts that Harry would've attended the royal wedding. "Well, this is it, it's an act of war! This is brutal," he said.
"I suspect that Harry would not have attended the wedding for fear of bumping into William. " The royal commentator pointed out that the Duke of Sussex has"a few engagements" in the United Kingdom this year, adding:"He's coming for the Invictus countdown and he might be back later in the year as well. "But it's not about whether he's there. It's about that invitation – did it go to Montecito, California?
" The snub, he says, will be"very painful" for Harry, who is said to be missing"his old life" following his exit from the royal fold. "Harry will be devastated by this, he'll be hurting. Meghan couldn't care less because there is not the emotional capital for Meghan.
"Then-Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex attend Christmas Day Church service at Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate on December 25, 2018 in King's Lynn, England. Picture: Samir Hussein/Samir Hussein/WireImage It was reported earlier this month that the Duke of Sussex had left senior members of the Royal Family"outraged" after he sent a "string of demands on behalf of Meghan" ahead of his return to the UK.
In July, Harry is expected to be back on British soil to attend a one-year countdown event for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, as well as the WellChild Awards. While it has not been confirmed that Meghan will join her husband on the UK trip, a well-placed source claims Harry is making all of the necessary arrangements to ensure she is comfortable should she return to his home turf.
"Harry is coming in with all these demands on behalf of Meghan, and it’s rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way," a source told Heat World. "The last thing he wants is Meghan walking into a situation where she feels judged, and he says all he’s asking is that she’s treated with basic respect and not cast as the bad guy before anything’s even happened.
" The insider says that the prince is requesting"reassurance" from his family that"everyone will keep things polite and give her a fair chance".
