‘Don’t see an issue’: McRae grilled over ‘personal’ boundary comment to star as Swans take stance

The moment has revived scrutiny of McRae’s active boundary presence, an issue first raised after his exchange with GWS tagger Toby Bedford last Opening Round.
“No, I can’t articulate what I said because it was a personal thing. Seriously, it was just a moment in time, we keep moving on,” McRae said.
“If you have a strong relationship with someone, I don’t see an issue with it – I coached him… I have a really strong relationship great respect for Brodie. “I love coaching from the boundary, there’s a real connection to the players there. I feel there’s an energy for me on the boundary line from the team.
”McRae, unaware of the incident’s media coverage or playing the questions brilliantly, said he would consider contacting Grundy to ensure it wasn’t offensive.
“I constantly try and connect with that part of our footy community, when you’re in the game as long as Pendles and other parts, there’s a lot of people,” he said. “Again, I’ve got great respect for Brodie and Brody Mihocek over here and Jack Ginnivan at other clubs.
“You build relationships that you hope, you go your different ways, but at some stage you’re going to come back and connect somewhere.claimed this week Swans coach Dean Cox was also quizzed about the incident and said he and his staff would not speak to rival players during a game. “I think my philosophy on that, is if I was down on the bench, I don’t speak to other players. That’s where I would leave it,” he said.
“We haven’t spoken at length about being unhappy or happy with it , so we haven’t spoken to anyone about it. It’s just what I would do if I was down there and what I expect my staff that are on the bench to do.
“... We haven’t sat down and spoken about a direct policy around it - it’s just the way we would handle things might be different to other teams,” he said. The Magpies will be boosted by the availability of Darcy Moore, Darcy Cameron, Pat Lipinski and Tim Membrey this week.
“It’s probably unlikely, we’ve got some news brewing but we can’t say at the moment,” McRae said. “That’s a bigger question , I think at the moment I would hope to think so.
