AFLW: The Brisbane Lions have destroyed the Gold Coast Suns in the Queensland derby.
Monique Conti has led Richmond to an upset win over the Adelaide Crows to sensationally claim her side’s first victory of the AFLW season. Conti was everywhere for the Tigers, and alongside Ellie McKenzie, led their second half resurgence where they came from 11 points down to cause a massive boilover at IKON Park.

It was a brilliant spoil and forward pressure from Laura McClelland that set up McKenzie’s second goal, and subsequently saw the Tigers take the lead for the first time since the opening quarter. It was then fitting that McKenzie’s partner in crime Conti was gifted a 50-metre penalty that bought her within range. Conti made no mistake with her shot on goal and gave the Tigers a nice buffer heading into the last. The 25-year-old star had an equal career best 35 disposals to go with 10 tackles, five clearances and a crucial goal in the third quarter. Incredibly, Conti did it without any rest — playing 100 per cent of game time against the Crows. The Tigers didn’t take their foot off the gas, and were relentless with their attack and pressure on the Crows. Eloise Jones’ second goal gave the Crows some hope, but it wasn’t long before McKenzie hit back with her third goal of the game to put the result beyond doubt. Sarah Hosking and Ally Dallaway of the Tigers celebrate winning the AFLW Round 8 match between Richmond Tigers and Adelaide Crows at Ikon Park on October 05, 2025 The result breaks the Tigers’ winless run, and gives Ryan Ferguson’s side some confidence heading into a tough assignment against North Melbourne next week. From the outset, Richmond looked like a different team against the Crows. Their ball movement looked slicker, they worked harder on the transition and their pressure was relentless. Despite taking it right up to the Crows, it looked as ifOnce they turned that around in the second half, the Tigers looked unstoppable and a long way from the team that fans have seen in the first seven weeks of the competition. The last time Adelaide finished outside the top four in the AFLW was way back in 2020, and after today’s shock loss, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory. With four games to go, the Crows can’t afford another upset if they want that valuable second chance come finals.
