A doctor who is understood to be under investigation after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him is still able to work in a Tasmanian hospital. Nurse and midwife Amanda Duncan wants to know why this can happen while the allegations remain unresolved.

concerns have been raised about a doctor who is working in a Tasmanian hospital despite unresolved allegations of sexual misconduct against him.Tasmania's health department says it is working with Tasmania Police regarding a complaint "linked to historic matters" relating to the doctor.

"The department is working with Tasmania Police regarding this matter. It would not be appropriate to make any further comment." "I recall one of the female staff members being approached from behind by the doctor and he put his arms around her and drew her in closely."On that particular incident, she actually did turn around to him and say 'don't you ever do that again'.

"He had power. If you were to challenge him in that way, and he didn't like that, what was that going to do to your career — would he somehow have you removed? "For me, I'm scared that our institutions are still not managing inappropriate behaviour in a manner that keeps people safe.In a statement, Calvary Health Care said it "takes complaints seriously".Ms Duncan wants to know why this doctor is still allowed to practice in Tasmanian hospitals while the matters are unresolved.
