Patients with disability often face considerable barriers when it comes to accessing clinical trials for new drugs and treatments.

Last year Leanne Duggan was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer . Now a new clinical trial has improved her quality of life.Domestic violence counsellor and social worker Leanne Duggan has always navigated life independently with her guide dog Esther by her side."It was hard, it was shattering," she said.

Anthony Joshua is the Head of Oncology at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital. "There's perception that we might do patients with disabilities harm by putting them onto clinical trial, either through affecting their quality of life or somehow inadvertently causing more complications from the treatment than they otherwise would have.
