Moto GP: Francesco Bagnaia has taken the lead of the Championship standings after a disaster crash in Germany for Jorge Martin

Australia n Jack Miller looks a step closer to signing with Aprilia to continue his MotoGP career, with two key pieces of a complicated rider market slotting into place ahead of the resumption of the championship at the British Grand Prix in early August.

On Tuesday night AEST, second-tier Aprilia outfit Trackhouse Racing announced the re-signing of incumbent Spanish rider Raul Fernandez for the next two seasons, while news emerged elsewhere that Fernandez’s current teammate, Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira, looks destined to join the new Pramac Yamaha project for 2025.Of the top six riders in this year’s championship standings, only reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia will continue with his current team next season.

Fernandez has scored 46 points this season to sit 14th in the championship standings, two places ahead of Miller after nine rounds. reported that Pramac, who Miller rode for from 2018-20, are set to announce Oliveira’s signature ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone , with 23-year-old Tony Arbolino his likely teammate as the Italian graduates to the premier class after finishing runner-up in Moto2 last year.

With Oliveira likely on the move, Miller’s only realistic opposition for the second Trackhouse Aprilia seat is American Joe Roberts, the 27-year-old Californian who sits in third place in the 2024 Moto2 rider standings after the best season of his seven-year tenure in the series. Aprilia’s main factory team will feature an all-new line-up of ex-Ducati riders for next year, with Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi taking the places of the retiring Aleix Espargaro and the KTM-bound Maverick Vinales.
