An in-depth article explores the finances of Princess Kate Middleton, revealing her spending habits and the private estate that provides her income.

Revealed: What Princess Kate Middleton spends her money on and how much she REALLY gets from the Duchy of Cornwall A royal expert has weighed in on the Princess of Wales' finances and the things she doesn't mind spending a few pennies on.

While Kate Middleton, 44, is often seen wearing designer clothes, elaborate jewels and a royal smile, her personal finances reveal where her priorities really lie. Most of the future Queen's money comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate that generates over £20 million annually and was established to provide an income to the heir of the British throne.

However, according to a royal expert, the Princess of Wales' clothes, makeup and hairstyling during royal outings can be written off against tax, with only a few expenses - such as children's toys and beauty treatments - she is expected to foot the bill for. While Kate Middleton is often seen wearing designer clothes, ellaborate jewels and a royal smile, don't be so quick to think she's a big spender when it come.

Pictures: Getty Images Royal author Norman Baker revealed to Daily Mail that much of Kate's wardrobe is listed as a"business expense" by her husband, as was done by King Charles when he was the Prince of Wales.

"Naturally, the secretive Prince William does not declare how much of Duchy profits was spent on Kate’s clothes, but it was rumoured one year’s bill alone came to £55,000 as far back as 2012," Baker added. Baker, who wrote Royal Mint, National Debt: The Shocking Truth about the Royals' Finances, revealed that most of Kate's dazzling jewellery is likely sourced from the Palace thanks to the"vast treasure trove" that has been built over generations.

He added that a lot of her couture gowns are borrowed from luxury fashion houses"free of charge" when it comes to major royal engagements. However, with freebies and tax claims aside, Daily Mail's Richard Eden surmised that most of the Princess of Wales' personal expenses would be related to"the children and hair and beauty".

When it comes to her kids, Kate doesn't mind paying a little bit extra for their wellbeing, famously pushing around a Silver Cross pram which can cost anywhere between $1,900 and $9,300. She also ensured their safety with a Britax Baby Safe car seat, which retailed between $200 and $240 when Prince George was born in 2013.

And clothes are no exception, with Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, often seen donning labels such as Boden, Ralph Lauren and Zara, a mix of high street finds and pricier luxury labels. Another major expense for the Princess of Wales is her beauty regime, having become famed for her luscious brunette locks and flawless skin.

According to Daily Mail, Kate gets her hair cut by Italian hairstylist Rossano Ferretti, who has become renowned for his"Method" haircut with handmade texturising scissors and a $1,110 price tag. The publication adds that she is believed to get her eyebrows laminated, which costs between $90 and $190, while her nails are kept affordable with a $19 Essie Allure coating.

Over the past few years, Kate has been seen driving an Audi Q7 Black Edition, which can cost up to $175,000, and a Range Rover Vogue, which can retail for up to $117,000. And then comes the couple's holidays - taking their family to the likes of the French Alpine resort of Courchevel, the Greek Isle of Kefalonia and an under-the-radar trip to the Alps over the past year- all paid for with their own pennies.

And with menial expenses such as food shops, home amenities and gifts, the bills certainly stack up.
