Golf: The Aussies secured the LIV Teams Title in Adelaide, after Cam Smith, Matt Jones, Lucas Herbert and Marc Leishman caught fire in the final round.
Aussies win LIV teams title in Adelaide | 01:47Aussie star Min Woo Lee is going to be playing for NBA royalty after signing with a team for Tiger Woods ’ new indoor golf league owned by Golden State Warriors champions Steph Curry and Klay Thompson .
Lee, the world No.34, has joined the roster of the newly formed Bay Golf Club for Woods’ TGL, the tech-infused golf league that will start in 2025 after a 12-month delay. The Australian was scouted to the join the inaugural league before the purpose-built stadium in Florida was destroyed by severe weather. The delay also cost the league the presence of Jon Rahm, who has since joined LIV Golf. Lee will now join reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Åberg and Shane Lowry as part of the California-based team that includes four-time NBA champions Curry, a golf fanatic who has attempted to play on the secondary Korn Ferry Tour, Thompson and former teammate Andre Iguodala among the ownership group. The inaugural TGL season will tee off January 7, 2025, in prime time on ESPN. A massive new steel-supported structure is set to house the giant screens and stadium-style stands that will present indoor golf on a whole new level. There will be six teams, each team featuring four PGA Tour players, with Woods and Rory McIlroy at the centre of the new operation, spruiked as a rival to the entertainment factor provided by LIV Golf. Lee isn’t playing at the Wells Fargo Championship this week but will be one of five Australians in next week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla, the year’s second major.
