Golf: Cameron Smith got off to a great start as a host of Australian stars have returned home to compete for the PGA championship.

Marc Leishman has said repeatedly this week that 2024 has been the best year of his life, but the Victoria n also ensured a significant health scare .Not that he seemed too bothered by it when reflecting on the experience of being hospitalised on the outskirts of London .

Leishman’s remarkable effort in West Virginia was one of his three top five finishes for the year on the LIV Golf circuit. “I think it gives you a bit of a new perspective. It could have been serious, it wasn’t, but it could have been.”His Leishman Lager beer has become well-known among golf fans, but him and business partners made the call to cease operations in Australia. It continues to sell – and Leishman says it is going well - in America but things did not pan out as hoped in his home country.A beer brand is not the only thing that Leishman has decided that he is not going to chase.

He will have that opportunity once again in Melbourne next week, and as for the qualifiers, he is likely to give them a go when it suits him.“I’m not going to go chasing world ranking points,” Leishman said.
