Formula 1: Red Bull have dismissed the appeal of an employee who accused Christian Horner of inappropriate behaviour.
When Max Verstappen romped to four easy wins from the first five grands prix , you’d have got long odds on predicting anything close to the fascinating season Formula 1 is delivering.
McLaren, meanwhile, has exceeded its own expectations. Despite having brought fewer new parts to the track than Red Bull Racing, it’s taken bigger leaps, which in turn sets it up to make yet more steps following the break. A fascinating subplot to the teams title battle is the developing dynamic between McLaren stars Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
This year the gap has closed further, but Piastri has also markedly upped the stakes during races, when his deficit on tyre and stint management has shrunk dramatically. But their duel is far more important than deciding the runner-up positions behind an almost certain Max Verstappen championship. It’s for this reason Norris was so dramatically implored by his race engineer to obey team orders in Hungary.
McLaren has a shot at the constructors title this year, but for the drivers 2024 is just a dry run for the real deal in 2025.HOW WILL RED BULL SETTLE ITS DRIVER CONUNDRUM? But it’s clear Red Bull Racing doesn’t want to sack Pérez, and it’s giving him every chance to come up with even a flimsy reason to keep him after months of woeful performances.
Below him, Red Bull-backed Formula 2 championship leader Isack Hadjar is also making a strong case for promotion. But how will we come to reflect on his final campaign in silver and the decision to defect after the next 10 rounds? As the car’s improved and as the scent of victory has grown stronger, Hamilton’s head has lifted and his form has risen.Indeed even at Silverstone on that iconic afternoon the cooling relations between team and driver were clear to see.
It’s in Mercedes and Hamilton’s interests to win more races together this season and close their partnership on a high. But with each preparing for a future without the other, just how high it’s allowed to get remains an open question.Source: Getty ImagesThe 2025 grid has four seats still unsigned at Mercedes, Alpine, Sauber and RB.
