The judge in the trial for a teenager accused of the home-invasion murder of Brisbane woman Emma Lovell has retired to consider his verdict.
Emma Lovell , 41, was stabbed in the heart and died on the front lawn of her North Lakes home during a 2022 Boxing Day home invasion.
"It's been really difficult to be honest. Working full-time, being a parent and trying to manage your house and everything, it's really full-on," he said. However, the teenager's defence lawyer has argued he had no knowledge the other boy was carrying a knife. The court has heard a murder conviction, and even an alternate charge of manslaughter, hinge entirely on whether the teenager knew the other was carrying a knife.A critical piece of evidence in this trial was CCTV vision from security cameras on the front doorstep of the Lovells' home.
However, the boy's defence lawyer Laura Reece submitted it could not be determined from the vision that her client turned his face towards the knife. The security cameras captured the moment the two teenagers came barrelling out of the house, minutes after entering, as Emma and Lee Lovell tried to grab them. The vision showed the struggle between the couple and the other teenager on the front lawn, before Ms Lovell fell to her knees, clutching her chest.
"A lot of people have said, 'How do you contain your anger?' But I'm not really an angry person," he said.Federal Government
