The Canberra Liberals launch their bid to win back government in the ACT, with leader Elizabeth Lee joined at an event in the city's south by former chief minister Kate Carnell and the party faithful.

The Canberra Liberals have launched their bid to win back government in the ACT at an event in Tuggeranong, with leader Elizabeth Lee joined by former chief minister Kate Carnell and the party faithful.

Liberal Leader Elizabeth Lee is vying to end more than two decades of Labor rule in the ACT, and used her speech to hit out at the government's record.Ms Lee attempted to blame the government for taking "one of the best health systems in the country to one of the worst", and also criticised its record on creating new housing supply and incentivising business activity.

"I, like every true Liberal, would love to get rid of it entirely, but as Labor is leaving us with an eye-watering debt ... which is set to grow in the forward estimates, we cannot afford to do so, but we can offer meaningful relief," Ms Lee said.
