The woman who helped lock up one of Australia’s most prolific conmen has revealed how her former boyfriend continued his charade from behind bars.
Tracy thought everything was fine. She had no idea her boyfriend of 18 months was doing the unthinkable, until it was far too late.However their blossoming romance came to an abrupt end after Ms Hall discovered ‘Max’ was a serial fraudster named Hamish McLaren who’d fleeced her – and countless others – of their life savings .

Picture: Supplied “So when he called from behind bars, I was just so desperate for information, that I took the phone call. While the handwritten letters from McLaren insisted he “would never hurt” her, they glaringly omitted the mental and psychological harm his web of deceit had inflicted.
“One of the weird things Hamish would do is drive through the night to meet me in Byron Bay, our favourite holiday spot, instead of flying up with me,” she shared.
