If the sneaker business is all about ingenuity then this 12-year-old athlete from the Philippines has it in spades.
Rhea Bullos showed having speed has nothing to do with footwear after claiming gold in three separate events at the Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet. Most athletes can attest to the benefits of running barefoot but the surface on most athletic tracks can cut up the feet quite badly.Bullos drew the Nike tick on the front of her foot along with the label written along the heel, on the way to winning the 800m, 400m and 1500m events.
Once photos of her custom made running shoes hit the internet one head coach of a professional team in the Philippines asked followers to get him in contact with the young girl. Jeff Cariaso, of the Alaska Aces basketball team, reportedly had her contact details in a couple of hours and reached out to Bullos."Thanks for the post. I was able to speak to Rhea and her adviser this morning. Thanks to those who messaged me also with her contact number," he said.
