It is the highest number of COVID deaths in one day recorded in Queensland, with 15,962 new infections confirmed in the latest reporting period and 819 people being treated in hospital.
Ms D'Ath announced changes to rules on visitors in hospitals to reduce the potential spread of the virus around health facilities.
"At the moment we're not putting a complete ban on visitors as we did have to do previously, but we are limiting the numbers, of course, there'll be exceptions to that rule particularly around palliative care, end-of-life visits and maternity." Ms D'Ath expressed concern about the number of people in their 20s and 30s coming forward to get their second vaccination.
