Brisbane’s 4KQ was bought in May this year by the company behind Melbourne sports radio institution SEN, with plans to change the popular classic music station to a sports format.
The popular 4KQ breakfast show lineup of Laurel Edwards, Gary Clare and Mark Hine will move to 4BC, with current host Neil Breen moving to take on the drive shift with a new show.to 4BC from Monday.Brisbane’s 4KQ was bought in May this year by the company behind Melbourne sports radio institution SEN, with plans to change the popular classic music station to a sports format later in the year.
In June, SEN announced it would switch off 4KQ after 75 years in order to begin the transition to sport. Current 4BC breakfast host Neil Breen will move to the drive shift with his new show Brisbane Live, while Scott Emerson will take up a new role as political contributor across 4BC and Nine Radio’s other talk stations.“Back in primary school, 4BC’s Murray Shoring visited to give a presentation about radio, and that’s when I knew I wanted to be an announcer,” she said.
“This is a station with such a great Brisbane legacy, and it’s a privilege to be welcomed here, wherever our new and old listeners are tuning in from. It’s a full-circle moment for me.”“I’m happy to hand them the alarm clock and I can’t wait to get cracking on my new drive show,” he said.
