Green rolling hills in Briones Regional Park in Martinez, Calif.Last but not least on our list of best East Bay dog spots is. Located in the rolling hills in between the cities of Lafayette, Martinez, Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill, this enormous, 6,255-acre park has miles of dog-friendly hiking trails.
Established in 1967 by the East Bay Regional Park District, the land originally served at cattle grazing ground and much of it was controlled by the Briones family, who owned the land via an 1842 Mexican land grant. From Briones Peak to the Lafayette Ridge and Alhambra Creek, there are many unique areas to explore in this vast and mostly locals-only park. Your dog can roam free in some undeveloped areas, but be sure to check signage in the park to see which: 2537 Reliez Valley Road, Martinez, CA 94553
