Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese isn’t in control of his Labor cabinet.

Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic broke ranks by condemning Israel’s blockade on Gaza due to the widespread humanitarian catastrophe. Fellow Labor minister Anne Aly backed Mr Husic, saying it was “difficult to argue” that Palestinians were not being “collectively punished”. “Look, I appreciate Ed’s sentiments; he’s in a difficult situation; he’s calling for nuance, but so far, I think it’s fair to say that Israel has a right to self-defence,” Mr Hastie told Sky News Australia.

“And we’re hearing too many voices out of the Labor cabinet, and Anthony Albanese is not in control of his cabinet, and I think it is divided.”
