A family of five in Melbourne - who are all infected with COVID-19 - have been allegedly caught breaching home quarantine orders and repeatedly leaving their house after numerous complaints from neighbours.

Neighbours of the Newport clan - located in Melbourne's southwest and one of the worst affected COVID-19 geographical areas - claim they have witnessed the wife and one of the children leaving their property numerous times.A Newport family in Melbourne's southwest allegedly broke home quarantine orders and left the property on multiple occasions. They later returned on Tuesday, along with Melbourne police officers, warning the family they would be fined $10,000 each, removed from their home and place into hotel quarantine if they breached the rules again. Newport and neighbouring suburb Altona North have a number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 exposure sites.

214 of the 246 cases situated in eight LGAs, 97 infections were in Hume, 31 in Moreland, 23 cases in Whittlesea, 17 in Wyndham, 15 in Hobson's Bay, 13 in Darebin and 11 in Brimbank and seven in Melton.
