Police are investigating three crashes which claimed the lives of three people yesterday. In one incident, a driver ran red lights to avoid being pulled over before crashing, police say.

Police had tried to pull over the driver of a silver sedan just after 5:30pm yesterday on Ferntree Gully Road after the vehicle was seen allegedly speeding.The man is under police guard in hospital and his female passenger died at the scene.
