Australia’s consumer watchdog is taking both Coles and Woolworths to court for allegedly misleading customers about discounts on products. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has commenced separate proceedings in the Federal Court against the supermarket giants.
announces legal action against supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths. It alleges the stores increased the prices of some of its products so that it could then place them under a Prices Dropped or Down Down promotion, making it appear as though customers were saving more. The supermarkets allegedly increased the price of some products by as much as 15 per cent for a short amount of time, before then putting them on promotion.
