On some buildings, the swans are around the wrong way, with a white swan on the left and a black swan on the right.

The ACT 's coat of arms has been displayed incorrectly as part of the government's logo on a number of public buildings around Canberra .Almost a century old, it features a black swan on the left symbolising First Nations people and a white swan opposite symbolising "European Australians".

In some cases, the swans are around the wrong way, with a white swan on the left and a black swan on the right. We immediately moved to update the Brand Guardian to ensure that the templates were consistent on all backgrounds for future use. The coat of arms dates back to the 1920s when a request was made by the Commonwealth Department of Defence to the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs and Territories in 1927.A subsequent design competition was held and the chosen design was sent off to London's College of Arms. From 1989, the year of self-government, it has been used by the ACT government. Many of the elements of the coat of arms have some symbolic meaning.
