Following the dismissal of charges against NRL players Jack Wighton and Latrell Mitchell yesterday, the ACT's Police Minister has confirmed an internal investigation into the matter.
A number of ACT police officers have been referred to an internal standards panel after charges against NRL players Jack Wighton and Latrell Mitchell were dismissed in the ACT Magistrates Court yesterday.
"So, there will be an investigation of that procedure there, and I don't want to pre-empt that, so I'd like to see that go through.Mr Gentleman did not indicate whether internal disciplinary action or review would occur. Police Sergeant David Power had told the court he had seen Mr Wighton acting aggressively at the nightclub, before he had him removed and issued with an exclusion order so he could not return to the CBD for several hours."I did not dream up anything … I believed I saw it," Sergeant Power said.
