Adam Scott will go into the final round of the second PGA Tour play-offs tournament, two shots behind new leader Patrick Cantlay.

One shot in front overnight, Scott shot a two-under 69 on Saturday and will go into the final round of the tournament in Wilmington, Delaware two shots behind Cantlay, who posted a 65 to seize the lead at 12-under.He had six birdies and a hole out from 106 yards for eagle in his round and he leads by one shot from fellow Americans Xander Schauffele and Scott Stallings .

Australia's former world number one Scott is tied fourth with current world number one Scottie Scheffler while Collin Morikawa is a shot further back alongside Aaron Wise . A distant 77th in the Fedex Cup rankings when starting the play-offs, Scott boosted his cause with a tie for fifth on Sunday and is now bidding to be one of the top 30 players who make it to the finale next week in Atlanta for the Tour Championship.

Fellow Australian Lucas Herbert shot a 68 to be tied 18th at five-under while Marc Leishman shot 71 and is tied 34th on three-under and Cam Davis is a further shot back.
