South Australia's Equal Opportunity Commissioner Niki Vincent said she was shocked the vice-chancellor had abused his power. That prompted promises of action, including by the University of Adelaide, but the National Union of Students said the recent case showed how much more work was needed."We can't really expect anything to change or any action to be taken if the people who are supposed to be doing the work and implementing recommendations made by that report are actually the ones who are the perpetrators.National Union of Students' national women's officer, Humaira Nasrin.
The ICAC cleared the university's former chancellor Kevin Scarce of any wrongdoing in failing to tell the university's council about Peter Rathjen's behaviour. "Any allegation of sexual harassment is among the most serious of any workplace complaint and must be treated as such.
