Defence Analyst Peter Jennings says he’s known for a long time that the Australian Defence Force isn’t prepared for conflict with an “aggressive China”.
“It’s been a source of deep concern to me that it seems to have taken an eternity for governments – successive Australian governments – to actually get their mind around this issue,” he said.
Mr Jennings’ remarks come after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Defence Minister Richard Marles unveiled the most significant review of Australia’s military posture in more than three decades – the Defence Strategic Review.
