This year, vibrant British debuts from Georgia Oakley compete against Pakistani director Saim Sadiq’s trans-themed Cannes crowdpleaser “Joyland” and Mexican helmer Natalia Lopez Galliardo’s muscular Berlinale prizewinner “Robe of Gems,” among others.
