Aged Care Minister Anika Wells said she wanted to get the balance right between how much taxpayers and the elderly pay to receive care at home.

Already a subscriber?Aged Care Minister Anika Wells looks set to make retirees pay more for in-home aged care packages, saying the government wanted to get the balance right between how much taxpayers and the elderly pay to fund aged care.

While Labor has so far declined to detail which of the taskforce’s 23 recommendations would be adopted by the government, Ms Wells on Sunday signalled her support for getting in-home care residents to pay for a greater share of their package.

Labor has said it wants to work with the Coalition to ensure that any reforms to the aged care system have bipartisan support.
