Aid ship carrying 200 tonnes of food reaches Gaza

A ship carrying 200 tonnes of food has arrived in Gaza after a 240-mile voyage from Cyprus. The vessel is towing a barge with almost half a million meals. Another larger ship is on standby to ship more aid. A new land route was also used to deliver food to northern Gaza for the first time in three weeks.

About 48 hours after it left Cyprus , with further aid preparations being made aboard a second “much bigger” vessel. It came as the EU foreign policy chief said starvation was being used as a weapon of war. After the 240-mile voyage, the ship will dock at a jetty being built by the World Central Kitchen (WCK), the organisation that will distribute the aid. The vessel is towing a barge carrying 200 tonnes of food which equates to almost half a million meals.
